Cedar Lodge undergoes total refurbishment with technology and training
Forest Care, an organisation with over 30 years’ experience, has upgraded two of its homes with innovative new facilities and improved staff training. You can read about its work on the first, Rowan Lodge, at https://www.forestcare.co.uk/homes/rowan-lodge/.
The second location that’s been renovated is Cedar Lodge: a home for the elderly, set in spacious landscaped gardens and surrounded by woodland. A carefully and thoughtfully designed home, Cedar Lodge can accommodate up to 60 residents in spacious, single-occupancy bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
The home has received a Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating of “Good” across all five of the regulator’s categories, assuring it’s safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Just like Rowan Lodge, Cedar Lodge has been updated with a new WiFi and phone system, so residents can feel closer to friends and relatives.
Staff are also able to take advantage of digital systems, including a new electronic drugs system, eMAR; an electronic care-plan system; and a newly implemented digital platform that keeps track of staff training.
Extra refurbishment work comprises a complete transformation of the dining room, lounge, cinema, all corridors and every one of the home’s 60 bedrooms. These look better than ever, with new decoration, modern vinyl flooring, plush curtains and state-of-the-art beds.
At Cedar Lodge, there has always been a huge focus on keeping residents social, active and entertained – with everyone enjoying the freedom to choose where and how they spend their time. The home’s extensive activities programme includes arts and crafts, fitness, parties, outings and visiting entertainers.
This offering can now be maximised, with the building of a new extension, dedicated to these activities. The extension links onto the home for easy access, and provides a beautiful space where residents can relax and have fun.
Overall, Cedar Lodge has never been a warmer or more welcoming place – and Forest Care continues to invest in all its locations, to maintain both this and their “Good” or “Outstanding” CQC ratings.
