Activities Team Wins Specialist Area at the Frimley South Care Home Forum
The theme of the Frimley System (South) Care Home Forum 2019 was outstanding contributions within the care home sector. We are delighted to announce that the Cedar Lodge Activities team won the Specialist Area award for Activities in a care home.
The judging panel emphasised that they were particularly impressed with the lengths Cedar Lodge goes to in making each resident’s life as normal as possible, ensuring each resident’s personal milestones are celebrated and made to feel special.
The Cedar Lodge Activities team was found to use a person-centred approach, determination and dedication to make a real difference when caring for the wellbeing of their residents.
Nenita Jopson, Cedar Lodge Home Manager, was also nominated for the “Unsung Hero” award. Although she didn’t win, we are immensely proud that her hard work and enthusiasm for her residents has been externally recognised.
Residents, relatives and staff celebrated Nenita’s nomination and the Activities Team success with a presentation of thanks. Frank Fogarty, owner of the Forest Care Group, offered flowers and acknowledged their outstanding contributions to providing person-centred care.
Cedar Lodge Celebrates National Nurses Day
To celebrate Florence Nightingale’s Birthday and to mark the contributions nurse’s make towards people’s health, Cedar Lodge hosted a presentation of gratitude to the Nurses who work at the Care Home.
Home Manager and qualified nurse, Nenita, joined her team to recite the Florence Nightingale pledge of nursing in front of residents, relatives and staff. Fred, a resident at Cedar Lodge, enjoyed celebrating the occasion and said “the nurses here are the very best”.
International Nurses day always falls on the birthday of Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale was a British nurse who is recognised internationally as the founder of professional Nursing. She was also called “the lady with the lamp because of her habit of making rounds at night with a lamp as she attended wounded soldiers during the Crimean war.
Frank Fogarty, Owner and Managing Director of Forest Care, also came to acknowledge the team’s hard work and dedication. Frank was joined by the Lady with the Lamp, together they handed out tokens of appreciation to the Nursing Team.
Nursing remains a noble profession that cannot be described without using the word ‘care’. Within a care home, nursing requires courage, understanding and patience. There is a considerable amount of autonomy involved with Nursing in care homes, with that comes a great amount of responsibility. At Cedar Lodge, the team is immensely proud of the continuous high standard of care their nurses provide to residents.
