Rowan Lodge residents enjoyed memorable visits from Berkshire Birds of Prey and local beekeeper Ally, with hands-on experiences, honey tasting and fascinating learning opportunities. Cedar Lodge celebrated Philippine Independence Day with traditional food, cultural dress and dance, while also hosting future care planning sessions and a showcase performance to mark the completion of a six-week music programme.
Summer fetes at Oak Lodge and Holly Lodge brought together residents, families and friends for live entertainment, BBQs, games, craft stalls and delicious refreshments. Special thanks to Basingstoke Community Radio for their outdoor broadcast and fantastic music at Oak Lodge’s Summer Fete. Oak Lodge residents also enjoyed connecting with Hospital Radio Basingstoke during its Open Day. Creativity flourished across our homes, with Oak Lodge residents taking part in the Creative Mojo Summer Art Project and Elm Lodge residents enjoying flower arranging workshops.
Father’s Day was celebrated across all our homes, while Elm Lodge residents enjoyed a fantastic day at the Hartley Wintney Festival.
Rowan Lodge and Holly Lodge raised an impressive £202.85 for the Time for a Cuppa fundraiser, and Rowan Lodge residents shared a heartwarming Intergenerational Day with pupils from Whitewater School.
We also celebrated Nurses Day and Carers Week, recognising the dedication of our incredible teams, and proudly supported Phyllis Tuckwell through the colourful Dash of Colour event.
Born in Southeast London in 1931, Joyce began her career as a dressmaker at 14 and later toured the country performing in summer shows and pantomimes alongside her sister. She shared 72 happy years with her husband, Reg, raising a daughter and enjoying family holidays, cruises and a lifelong love of sewing; today, she enjoys the choir, activities and entertainment at Cedar Lodge, while continuing to live by her mother’s advice to always look for the good in people.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Lewis speaks English and Shona and has dedicated his career to nursing since moving to the UK in 2019. A proud husband, father of two and sports enthusiast, he values the strong sense of community at Rowan Lodge and is passionate about supporting residents and making a positive difference every day.
