Head Housekeeper

Domestic Supervisor / Head Housekeeper

We are looking for an experienced Domestic Supervisor, to lead a team of Housekeepers at our beautiful and modern Care Home.

Based at Rowan Lodge, Crown Lane, Newnham, Basingstoke, RG27 9AN - a care home with a CQC rating of “good” in all five areas. These accolades are only achieved through the teamwork of like-minded individuals passionate about delivering person-centered care. Our Care/Nursing staff to resident ratio is higher than the national average and nearly 50% of our team have been with us for over 5 years.

Salary £11.97 per hour, this position is full time (40 hours per week) and will require flexibility with some weekend working.

Purpose of Position

  • To be responsible for the general hygiene of the home.
  • To ensure that all domestic staff actively contribute to the quality of domestic life in the home.
  • To keep the cost of cleaning within budgeted guidelines.

Main Duties of our Domestic Supervisor / Head Housekeeper;

  • To allocate cleaning programmes for each domestic assistant and to monitor the quality and thoroughness of the work.
  • To control an allocated budget for the purchase of cleaning materials and to minimise wastage.
  • To be responsible for the checking of hours worked by each domestic employee and to authorise the total hours on each time sheet.
  • To contribute to staff meetings and encourage motivation and a good working atmosphere.
  • To be part of the cleaning rota and to share in the cleaning duties on occasion and if required.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

Skills and Experience of our Domestic Supervisor / Head Housekeeper;

  • Experience with rota management
  • Experience with cleaning frequencies and how to identify key areas for priority cleaning
  • Familiar with cleaning schedules and supervising cleaning schedule sign off
  • High level of written and spoken English

  • To hold a suitable food and hygiene certificate – training can be given.
  • To dispose of waste correctly.
  • To ensure that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable goods.
  • To contribute in the serving of food.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

Skills and Experience of our Kitchen Assistants;

  • Previous experience working within a kitchen environment
  • High level of written and spoken English

  • To clean sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infestation.
  • To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance or cannot be kept to standard through normal cleaning procedures.
  • To deal with the waste bags and their prescribed disposal.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

We are looking for a part time Activities Assistant to join the motivated and happy team working at our Rowan Lodge care home. At Forest Care, we are proud to create positive working environments in each of our care homes by encouraging employee participation and humour in the workplace.

Our Activities Team provide a full and varied activities programme of therapeutic group, individual and one-to-one activities for residents to enjoy. Skills and Experience of our Activities Assistant;

  • Previous experience of organising events and activities within a care home setting (not essential, as training is provided)
  • Good organisational skills
  • A moderate level of computer literacy
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality
  • Willing to work towards Level 2 Napa Qualification in Activities
